There’s nothing worse than spending hours in the gym doing hundreds of squats and not seeing the results you’re hoping for.

For some, achieving a fuller, firmer butt is just not as easy as it seems which is why buttocks augmentation has become such a popular solution.

If you’ve been considering taking a surgical route to get the butt of your dreams, you’ll know that there are two main options available: Fat transfer and implants.

While both these options will help you achieve the same thing, you’re probably wondering which procedure is safer and will provide you with the most natural-looking results.

This article aims to clear up any confusion around this topic.

Buttock Fat Transfer: What You Need to Know

Also commonly known as the Brazilian butt lift, fat transfer to the buttocks entails using your body’s excess fat to create a fuller behind. Using liposuction, your surgeon will remove excess fat from an area such as the thighs, love handles or stomach. The fat will then be processed and purified before it is injected into the buttocks to create a shapelier and fuller behind.

Fat transfer is one of the safest ways to enhance the size and shape of your buttocks purely because it uses your own fat to get the job done, this means that your body won’t reject the fat once it has been injected. Plus, there’s the added bonus of liposuction, which gets rid of unwanted fat pockets in other areas of your body. Fat transfer is also known to produce longer-lasting results.

Some of the fat that is injected into your buttocks will be reabsorbed by the body but patients are able to enjoy the full results of their procedure about 6 months after their surgery. The only time that the buttocks will change is if the patient loses a significant amount of weight.

Butt Implants: What You Need to Know

Butt implants were the original way to augment the buttocks but they are slowly becoming a less popular option for a number of reasons. During your surgery, round or oval silicone implants will be placed below or above the gluteus maximus muscle via an incision that is made along the upper crease of the buttocks.

Once the implants have been inserted, the incisions will be closed with sutures and a drain will be inserted so that excess blood and fluid can be extracted after the surgery. Unfortunately, implants do come with a few drawbacks, including the risk of rupturing. Implants are also not a permanent solution and will need to be replaced after about 8 years.

Lastly and most importantly, implants tend to look a lot less natural than the results achieved through fat transfer.

Basically, if you’re looking for a safe option that will look natural and last longer, fat transfer to the buttocks is the better choice.
